Production Development Specialist

Overview

Optimize the Production organization's assembly methods, processes and equipment to minimize labor hours in line with business strategy on quality, efficiency, cost and safety, supporting the ABB India Ltd Electrification Smart Buildings Business.

What you'll do

• Ensure appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance and materials/components in support of production targets.
• Define the working phase sequence of a new production process to align with the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget.
• Identify and recommend improvement opportunities and implement improvement projects, ensuring adherence to timeframe, quality and cost requirements.
• Approve the design for processes developed internally or externally and perform final tests with respect to the project.
• Provide support to Production during internal/external process and equipment start-up, define action plans and train relevant maintenance and production resources.
• Evaluate new process technologies to improve productivity, quality and cost reduction, coordinating testing activities, approval criteria and external provider choices.

What you'll need

• Diploma in engineering with in-depth knowledge of engineering materials, their processing, applications and properties.
• 4+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
• Skilled in press tool development, 3D modeling, sheet metal manufacturing processes and industrialization of low-voltage switchgear parts, from design optimization to production handover.
• Specialized skills in tool and die design, part cost estimation, and executing projects that meet productivity, cost and timeline targets.
• Highly adept in CAD 2D/3D platforms such as Creo and AutoCAD.
• Proficient with enterprise tools such as SAP and Windchill for managing design data and process documentation.
• Committed to lean manufacturing, process documentation and continuous improvement, with proficient skills in PFMEA, control plans, SOPs and process audits.
• Familiarity with ISO 8015, GD&T and part metrology.
• Highly skilled in communicating in English.
