Join Wood Mackenzie's Power and Renewables (P&R) Research team in Gurugram as a Research Analyst, focusing on power market analysis and modelling for India and South Asia.

What you'll do

• Conduct market research to track supply, demand, and investment trends in India and South Asian power markets.
• Analyze the policy and regulatory landscape and its impact on market outcomes.
• Run and maintain regional power market models to produce technology and price outlooks.
• Translate model outputs and market intelligence into clear, actionable insights for research reports.
• Support client engagements by responding to queries and presenting findings to clients and industry stakeholders.
• Collaborate with a global team of power and renewables experts on topics such as battery storage and curtailment forecasting.
• Stay current on market developments to keep modelling and research at the leading edge.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients and industry experts.

What you'll need

• Work experience of 3-6 years with any utility, developer, consultancy/research provider, university, think-tank, or another market/investment-focused organization.
• Exceptional analytical/quantitative skills, including experience in modelling or commercial analysis in power markets.
• Comfortable working with large datasets, databases, and APIs, and familiar with tools like Python, SQL, and Power Query.
• Intellectually curious, collaborative, and highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of power and renewable market dynamics.
• Familiarity with the enablers and implications of decarbonization in the energy sector.
• Knowledge of key commercial and regulatory frameworks relevant to India and South Asia, such as support/incentive regimes, power purchase agreements, capacity and ancillary markets, transmission and distribution regulations, and energy policy.

Nice to have

• Experience conducting market research or policy and regulatory analysis in the Indian or South Asian power sector.
• Experience in optimisation models such as Plexos, Aurora, or SDDP.
