Overview
The SAP Release Engineer plans, coordinates, and executes SAP releases across a complex multi-system SAP landscape, ensuring reliable, compliant, and predictable deployments.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end SAP release lifecycle including release calendars, governance, deployment execution, and post-release stabilization.
- Manage monthly, tri-annual, and emergency releases across production and non-production environments.
- Plan release scope, deployment sequencing, cutover activities, and rollback strategies.
- Coordinate releases across SAP platforms including ECC, S/4HANA, BW, PI/CPI, SolMan, GRC, ATTP, and integrations.
- Manage ChaRM processes in SAP Solution Manager and ensure transport governance, approvals, and audit requirements.
- Lead production and non-production deployments, including off-hours and weekend releases when required.
- Monitor post-deployment stability, coordinate defect triage/hotfixes/rollback decisions, and capture lessons learned.
What you'll need
- 5+ years of IT experience and 3+ years in SAP Release or Change Management roles.
- Hands-on experience managing releases in large, complex SAP landscapes.
- Proven experience with SAP Solution Manager ChaRM and TMS/CTS+ and transport governance.
- Strong understanding of SAP system landscapes and transport flows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and automation tools such as Jenkins in SAP environments.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL-based Change and Release Management practices.
