Overview
Develop and maintain a secure, performant, and user-friendly Windows desktop client for NETGEAR’s next-generation security platform, including SASE, VPN, ZTNA, and other network security capabilities.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain secure and high-performance Windows desktop applications for NETGEAR’s security platform.
- Implement VPN connectivity, secure tunneling, and ZTNA access using native Windows capabilities and VPN protocols such as IPSec or WireGuard.
- Collaborate with backend engineers, product managers, UX/UI designers, and QA to define and implement desktop features.
- Ensure applications follow security best practices, protect user data, and comply with Windows guidelines for application signing, sandboxing, and secure installation.
- Write clean, modular, and testable code.
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests using .NET test frameworks such as xUnit or NUnit.
- Contribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines for the desktop client.
- Participate in code reviews, support less experienced developers, and uphold strong engineering standards.
- Stay current with trends in Windows desktop application development, networking, and endpoint cybersecurity.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3–6 years of professional experience in Windows desktop application development using C#, .NET, Win32, and WPF.
- Hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting.
- Hands-on experience with Windows networking APIs and system-level frameworks, such as Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) or WinINet.
- Experience integrating certificate-based authentication, Windows Hello / biometrics, or OS-level security APIs.
- Familiarity with VPN protocols such as WireGuard or IPSec, and experience implementing secure tunnels or endpoint network clients.
- Experience with Windows application packaging, code signing, and deployment tools such as WiX Toolset, MSI, MSIX, or ClickOnce for enterprise and public distribution.
- Strong understanding of desktop security practices, including secure storage, encryption, sandboxing, Windows Credential Manager / DPAPI integration, and user authentication.
- Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests with .NET test frameworks such as xUnit or NUnit.
- Experience working with backend APIs and service-based architectures.
- Proficiency in debugging, profiling, and performance optimization of Windows desktop applications.
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in agile and cross-functional teams.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with cross-platform desktop frameworks such as Electron, Qt, or Flutter Desktop.
- Experience with enterprise deployment and endpoint management solutions such as Microsoft Intune.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for desktop applications, such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or TeamCity, including crash reporting and telemetry via platforms such as Sentry or App Center.
