SDET (L2) - Banking

Overview

Hands-on SDET (L2) for the Banking team, owning backend quality engineering for core money movement systems such as ledgers, payouts, reconciliation, and settlement. You’ll build and evolve automated testing and quality gates to keep critical financial correctness under real-world conditions.

What you'll do

• Design and evolve backend automation frameworks for APIs, services, databases, and end-to-end banking workflows.
• Build test scenarios to validate transaction processing, ledger consistency, reconciliation, settlement, payouts, and financial calculations.
• Test failure behavior including retries, idempotency, concurrency, duplicate requests, timeouts, partial failures, and recovery paths.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to improve execution speed and enforce reliable quality gates.
• Build and maintain test infrastructure such as test environments, data setup, mocks/simulators, and containerized runners.
• Run performance testing (load, stress, resilience) for high-volume financial workloads.
• Improve debugging and observability using logs, metrics, traces, and automation for faster root-cause analysis.

What you'll need

• Significant experience building or extending backend automation frameworks (beyond adding individual test cases).
• Strong testing skills for REST APIs, backend services, databases, and service-to-service integrations.
• Ability to reason about distributed-system failure modes such as retries, idempotency, concurrency, and partial failures.
• Comfort writing complex SQL queries to validate data integrity and system behavior.
• Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD and designing fast, stable, actionable test suites.
• Strong debugging fundamentals and proficiency with Git and data structures/algorithms.
• Ability to understand complex systems independently and translate risk areas into an effective test strategy.
