Senior Consultant Automation Developer

Overview

As a Senior Consultant Automation Developer on the Productivity Improvement Team, you will formulate and implement automation and process improvement solutions, develop features, systems and APIs, and transform design and product vision into products and services. The role involves consulting with business, technology, product management, operations and IT teams across complex data processing projects and the SDLC.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with technology, product management and operations teams to formulate and implement solutions that enhance existing services, develop new client deliverables or improve processes.
• Assess the impact of changes on staff and support change implementation through training, communication and ongoing solution support.
• Design and develop functional, performing and complete features, systems and APIs with other developers.
• Challenge the status quo to improve technical problem-solving and solution design.
• Conduct code reviews with other developers.
• Understand and resolve application vulnerabilities.
• Adhere to Northern Trust Enterprise Security standards while building applications.
• Decipher existing software systems and platforms and connect applications to applicable data sources.
• Plan and complete story development for releases and deployments using Agile and Scrum frameworks.
• Follow defined stories and ensure proper code coverage.
• Work with Quality Engineering teams and Product Owners.
• Provide ongoing project support and assist with project planning by estimating and managing work effort.
• Troubleshoot, conduct feasibility studies and define and design system requirements for complex data processing projects.
• Handle complicated technical scenarios and propose technical solution options.
• Analyze the business impact of proposed solutions and develop use cases to explain and demonstrate business requirements and specifications to IT teams.
• Contribute a business or process perspective during design reviews.
• Define and manage project phases for a business area, determine resource requirements, recommend testing strategies and develop cost-benefit analyses.
• Manage and implement projects, supervise project activities and provide progress updates.
• Review documents, current procedures and processes to recommend automation or process improvement opportunities.
• Design and develop new procedures when necessary.
• Provide consulting during solution architecture and direct the business toward appropriate solutions.
• Participate in business and technical meetings to gather and refine business requirements.
• Facilitate meetings and discussions, drive consensus on business requirements and validate solutions for business owners.
• Work through all aspects of the SDLC and adapt to Agile and waterfall SDLC concepts.

What you'll need

• 10 – 12+ years of industry experience with MS Power Tools, SQL and Python.
• Experience working in financial services and information technology.
• Experience working with Selenium Web tools.
• Strong understanding of APIs and how to use them in practice.
• Strong understanding of relational database concepts and hands-on experience writing SQL queries.
• Experience with continuous integration and collaboration tools including Azure ADO, GitHub, GitHub Actions and Confluence.
• Strong experience with unit testing and test automation tools and frameworks using Azure Boards.
• Strong understanding of story writing and exposure to Agile and Scrum frameworks.
• Experience creating and executing test plans on Azure Boards as part of a project.
• Experience in Domain Driven Design Development.
• Specialized knowledge of projects, consultative skills, analytical ability and capacity to work with clients, vendors and IT teams.
• Analytical skills for evaluating technical information and coordinating projects, along with communication, teamwork and interpersonal abilities.

Nice to have

• 10-12 years of relevant work experience in financial services and information technology.
• Exposure to Document Management or Workflow software.

• Location: Bangalore, India.
• Internal partners must complete 24 months as a Consultant to move as a Senior Consultant.
