Senior Data Engineer

Overview

Senior Data Engineer in the CCG IT Data Analytics team supporting the Fisher Scientific Research Safety Division (RSD) EU, building and delivering data solutions for global projects, local enhancements and break-fixes.

What you'll do

• Work in partnership with IT, ETO and business functions to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Design, develop and maintain data ingestion, data processing and data pipelines according to best practices.
• Perform data modeling and schema design to support business analytics and reporting needs.
• Ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle.
• Monitor and optimize the performance of data solutions to meet SLAs and scalability requirements.
• Ensure ETL processes meet business expectations and requirements.
• Design and build reusable components, frameworks and libraries at scale to support analytics products.
• Identify and implement opportunities for Data Platform automation.
• Ensure readiness of applications, environments, tools and profiles for end-to-end integration and UAT testing.
• Warrant the deployment of high-quality solutions and a proper handover to the support team after hyper-care.
• Carry out data analysis in requirements analysis, documentation and business process analysis.
• Gather requirements in collaborative workshops, analyze potential conflicts considering global impact, and uncover expectations with key business partners.
• Produce documentation of business requirements, success criteria, processes, use case scenarios and metrics to measure impact and return on investment.
• Review design documentation with business users and represent users with the Development Team.
• Support Knowledge Transfer through to hyper-care support with Business, Operational teams, IT and other functions.
• Ensure documentation is handed over to the support team, and gather sign-offs and approvals from the business.
• Support the business in effective adoption of changes.
• Work with a team of Data Engineers and Sr. Data Engineers to deliver global projects, local enhancements and break-fixes.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Over 6 years in the industry, with 3+ years as a data engineer in the supply chain business.
• Strong experience with SQL and data warehousing concepts.
• Strong skills in one or more data engineering programming languages, such as Python and Scala.
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Hands-on experience with Big Data and NoSQL technologies such as Spark, Impala, HBase, Cassandra, Storm, Flume, Pig or Hive.
• Deep understanding of design principles and architectural patterns.
• Effective communicator and mentor, able to lead and collaborate within teams.
• Familiarity with agile development approaches.
• Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
• Participation in on-call support rotation as needed.
