Senior DataOps Engineer (AWS & Security Focused)

Overview

Senior DataOps Engineer focused on automating, optimizing and securing a cloud data ecosystem on AWS, with ownership of secure data infrastructure and continuous exploration of new AWS services and DevSecOps practices.

What you'll do

• Design, deploy and maintain highly available and scalable data platforms using AWS-native services.
• Embed security guardrails into the data lifecycle, including encryption, data masking, network security and secure access controls.
• Build and manage automated pipelines for data infrastructure and code deployments using infrastructure-as-code.
• Oversee data workflow orchestration and implement real-time security monitoring, logging and automated compliance auditing.
• Proactively research, prototype and implement emerging AWS services and open-source data tools to solve complex infrastructure bottlenecks.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of professional experience in DataOps, DevOps or Data Engineering roles.
• Minimum of 4 years dedicated to the AWS ecosystem.
• Deep hands-on expertise with AWS compute and infrastructure services: EC2, EKS, ECS, Lambda, Terraform.
• Deep hands-on expertise with AWS data and analytics services: EMR, Glue, Athena, Redshift, S3, Kinesis.
• Proficiency in securing cloud environments using AWS IAM (least privilege), KMS (encryption at rest/in transit), VPC networking (PrivateLink, Security Groups), Secrets Manager, and AWS GuardDuty/CloudTrail for auditing.
• Strong experience building secure automated pipelines via GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline, alongside Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong proficiency with orchestration engines (Apache Airflow/MWAA, Step Functions) and modern data tools (dbt).
• Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL, with a solid grasp of securing relational and NoSQL databases.
