Job description

Overview

Lead the design and delivery of embedded software for advanced battery monitoring and insight solutions within the Battery Insights team, working across firmware, hardware, systems, verification and application teams.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, integrate and maintain complex embedded software solutions for battery monitoring and insight products.
  • Lead the technical delivery of significant features and contribute to software architecture and design decisions.
  • Develop and optimize real-time software, device drivers, hardware abstraction layers and platform services.
  • Analyze and improve software performance, reliability, memory use, power consumption and startup behavior.
  • Investigate complex system issues using structured debugging, root-cause analysis and data-driven methods.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, algorithms, verification, applications, security and product teams.
  • Translate product and customer requirements into clear software requirements, designs, implementation plans and testable outcomes.
  • Review designs and code, mentor less-experienced engineers and promote strong engineering practices.
  • Contribute to automated build, test, release and continuous-integration workflows.
  • Support technical planning, estimation, risk identification and roadmap development for Battery Insights software.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 0-4 years of relevant embedded software or firmware development experience.
  • Strong C and C++ programming skills, including debugging and optimization in resource-constrained systems.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems, concurrency, interrupts, synchronization and timing-sensitive design.
  • Experience developing low-level software or device drivers for common embedded interfaces and peripherals.
  • Experience with embedded processors or microcontrollers, including board bring-up and hardware/software integration.
  • Proficiency with source control, code review, automated builds and CI/CD practices.
  • Ability to work independently on complex technical problems and communicate decisions clearly across disciplines.
  • Understanding of software quality, maintainability, testing and lifecycle practices.
  • Awareness of open-source, proprietary and hybrid software licensing models.

Nice to have

  • Embedded Linux or Linux kernel development experience.
  • Experience with ARM-based platforms and low-level debugging tools.
  • Experience with telemetry, diagnostics, data acquisition, communications or cloud-connected edge devices.
  • Battery management, energy storage, automotive, industrial or data-center domain experience.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages for test automation and engineering workflows.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, functional safety or regulated software-development practices.
  • Experience working in globally distributed, cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through design ownership, mentoring or delivery of major features.
