Senior Engineer, IAM

Overview

Senior Engineer for Postman’s Identity and Access Management (IAM) team, building and operating backend systems for identity and authentication.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and evolve backend systems for identity and authentication.
• Own projects end to end, from requirements to rollout and production support.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Engineering to scope, build, test, and launch features.
• Improve reliability, scalability, observability, and operational readiness of owned services.
• Lead execution for projects involving 2–3 engineers when needed.
• Support debugging, incident response, root-cause analysis, and long-term fixes.
• Improve engineering quality via test coverage, design/code reviews, and strong practices.
• Collaborate on roadmap, prioritization, and SLAs for owned services.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience building complex backend or distributed systems at scale.
• Experience designing and operating production systems with strong reliability requirements.
• Ability to own ambiguous problems and drive them to production with minimal supervision.
• Experience leading or guiding small groups of engineers on execution.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, networking, data modeling, and system design.
• Practice writing testable, maintainable, easy-to-understand code.
• Comfort making architectural and implementation trade-offs with clear explanation.
• Cross-functional collaboration and comfort challenging stakeholders when needed.

Details

• Location: Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
• In-office work: 5 days a week for roles based out of the listed hubs; Bangalore roles are 3 days/week currently.
