Staff Software Engineer

Overview

Staff Software Engineer at Demandbase India, serving as a senior individual contributor to design, build, and operate scalable platform capabilities across multiple engineering teams.

What you'll do

• Lead design and delivery of reliable, secure, and well-monitored AI systems that automate workflows.
• Lead complex, multi-team projects from problem identification through ongoing support.
• Define technical roadmaps, system designs, trade-offs, milestones, and success measures.
• Design, build, and maintain backend systems, APIs, data platforms, and cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute hands-on to production code, reviews, testing strategy, performance tuning, observability, and incident learnings.
• Drive engineering excellence via CI/CD, test automation, monitoring/alerting, runbooks, security practices, and production readiness.
• Mentor engineers and raise technical standards across teams.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including senior technical leadership or Staff-level IC experience.
• Hands-on experience designing and building agentic solutions, agent workflows, automation systems, or AI platform capabilities.
• Expertise in system design, software architecture, reliability, observability, performance tuning, production operations, and cloud-native deployment.
• Programming experience in Java, Scala, Python, or similar backend technologies.
• Experience with databases, messaging systems, caching, and data platforms such as PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redis, Aerospike, Kafka, or Pulsar.
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives across multiple teams/services/product areas.
• Experience with AI-assisted engineering practices across the SDLC, including evaluating correctness, security, reliability, and production readiness.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and mentorship skills.
