Overview

Engineering Manager (Software Development) to lead a team delivering scalable, reliable, customer-focused experiences for eBay’s online marketplace.

What you'll do

• Manage, coach, and grow a team of software engineers.
• Partner with senior engineers to guide architecture and technical design for scalable, distributed, resilient systems.
• Lead end-to-end delivery across design, development, testing, deployment, operations, and continuous improvement.
• Guide development of high-volume services, APIs, and applications for the global marketplace.
• Establish practices for code quality, automated testing, security, performance, observability, and reliability.
• Ensure production readiness, monitoring, and CI/CD automation with strong operational ownership.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Platform, and other engineering teams to translate priorities into technical plans and outcomes.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of software engineering experience for large-scale applications and distributed systems.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience building and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong technical background in Java, Python, Node.js, or similar modern languages.
• Experience designing and delivering microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud platforms, relational/NoSQL databases, and observability tools.
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
• Experience leading teams with end-to-end ownership of the software they build and operate.
