Senior IT Automation Engineer

Overview

Senior IT Automation Engineer for Coinbase’s IT Tooling team, building and owning automations that support ITSS operations and self-service workflows.

What you'll do

• Own technical architecture of IT Tooling automations.
• Drive design decisions across n8n, Airflow, Temporal, and Jira.
• Establish architecture standards and code review practices.
• Act as technical DRI for complex automation projects from discovery to production.
• Partner with Security and IAM teams to resolve technical blockers.
• Build shared frameworks and reusable components to reduce failure points.
• Create architecture documentation and decision records for scalable delivery.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, automation, or systems engineering.
• Deep expertise building and maintaining complex automations with n8n, Airflow, Temporal, Jira Automation, or Workato.
• Strong Git-based workflows including branching, CI/CD, and code review.
• Working knowledge of Okta, Slack API, and Google Workspace administration.
• Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and produce production-ready technical specifications.
• Use generative AI responsibly with human oversight.
