Senior Java Backend Architect - Vice President

Overview

Senior leadership role managing one or more Applications Development teams, providing technical oversight and architecture direction for enterprise applications and systems at Citi.

What you'll do

• Manage one or more Applications Development teams to accomplish established goals
• Conduct personnel duties for the team, including performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions
• Utilize in-depth knowledge and skills across multiple Applications Development areas to provide technical oversight across systems and applications
• Review and analyze proposed technical solutions for projects
• Contribute to formulation of strategies for applications development and other functional areas
• Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business integrate to accomplish business goals
• Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual data in complicated and unique situations
• Monitor delivery of end results, participate in budget management, and handle day-to-day staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project
• Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards, negotiating with external parties when necessary
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
• Effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain standards

What you'll need

• 10-15 years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry
• Experience designing and delivering complex multi-system, distributed, highly available development projects
• Proven experience of solution design and architecture in successful deliveries using technologies like Microservices, JAVA etc.
• Experience with architectural methodologies and frameworks
• Awareness of architectural design patterns and design principles
• Strong hands-on experience on Java, Spring Boot, MicroServices, Database, JDBC, JMS, Distributed System, Kafka
• Experience using ALM and CI/CD tools like GitHub, TFS, Jenkins, OpenShift, and related tools in an agile methodology
• Experience leading project solution architecture design at various levels, including high and detailed level design
• Experience in Solution Architecture documentation and other architectural deliverables
• Experience providing solutions for a wide range of technologies: Java, Database (Oracle/SQL Server), Mongo, Cloud and Web Technologies, etc.
• Experience working in both waterfall and Agile methodologies
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication

• Familiarity with Angular 14
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
