Senior Manager, Machine Learning

Overview

Twilio is hiring a Senior Manager of Machine Learning for the Conversation Memory team to build foundational, 0-to-1 platform capabilities for conversational AI.

What you'll do

• Translate ambiguous business problems into a clear, prioritized ML product roadmap.
• Take a hands-on “player-coach” approach by contributing technical expertise and providing strategic direction.
• Set up engineering practices that enable rapid iteration, experimentation, and deployment of ML models.
• Drive continuous improvement across processes, tooling, and infrastructure for velocity, quality, and maintainability.
• Monitor the ML/AI landscape and promote strategic adoption of relevant research, techniques, and tools.
• Manage ML and AI delivery by tracking KPIs, timelines, dependencies, and risks.
• Recruit, manage, and develop a team of Machine Learning Engineers.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Applied ML or AI.
• 3+ years of leading a team of Machine Learning Engineers or data scientists.
• Proven ability to define and execute a multi-year technical vision and strategy for large-scale ML platforms or products.
• Deep expertise in production-grade ML/AI system design, architecture, and deployment, including LLM orchestration, embedding models, and vector stores.
• Extensive ML Ops and LLM Ops experience, including evaluation metrics for non-deterministic AI features at scale.
• Cloud experience building services using AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Details

• Remote role based in India, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Maharashtra, and New Delhi.
• Occasional travel may be required for in-person meetings.
