Overview
Lead and mature the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capability for Collins Aerospace's Digital Technology organization, owning the end-to-end system model from requirements through architecture to simulation-based verification using Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML.
What you'll do
- Lead requirements modeling and architecture modeling (structure, behavior, interfaces, allocation) for complex multi-domain systems in Cameo and SysML.
- Define and govern MBSE methodology, modeling standards, profiles, patterns and reusable libraries across programs.
- Develop and maintain the full set of SysML views in Cameo: Requirement, Block Definition, Internal Block, Parametric, Package, Activity, Sequence, State Machine and Use Case diagrams.
- Integrate and co-simulate Cameo models with MATLAB/Simulink to validate requirements and establish bidirectional requirements traceability between system models and simulation models.
- Establish and drive product line engineering practices: variability modeling, feature models, configuration of product variants and reuse of model assets.
- Contribute to the digital thread by linking MBSE artifacts with PLM, ALM, simulation and test data so that traceability is maintained across the lifecycle.
- Perform trade studies, impact analysis, verification and validation planning, and design reviews using the system model as the single source of truth.
- Mentor and coach engineers, run MBSE training and workshops, and act as technical authority in reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Evaluate emerging standards and tools (including SysML v2 and its API) and recommend adoption roadmaps.
- Define guidelines for the safe, governed use of AI/GenAI in MBSE (requirements quality checks, model generation and review, traceability, model debugging), with human validation of every AI output.
- Prepare technology proposals and explore funding opportunities, leading efforts in innovation, invention disclosures, external paper publication, productivity savings through automation, and models.
What you'll need
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Aerospace, Automotive, Mechatronics, Instrumentation/Controls or Computer Science.
- M.E./M.Tech/MS in Systems Engineering, Systems and Control, Mechatronics, Aerospace/Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
Nice to have
- A PhD in a relevant area is an advantage.
- 13–15 years of experience in systems engineering, with a substantial portion in hands-on MBSE and PLE.
- Expert-level proficiency in Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw) and SysML v1.x, with working knowledge of all diagram types.
- Strong experience in requirements engineering and requirements modeling, including derivation, decomposition, allocation and verification traceability.
