Overview
Senior Software Development Engineer in Test responsible for building scalable test automation, supporting quality practices across assigned squads or modules, and improving testing efficiency through modern frameworks and AI-assisted workflows.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable UI, API, and integration test automation frameworks using Playwright/TypeScript, Selenium, or equivalent.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, and BAs to translate requirements and acceptance criteria into comprehensive test strategies.
- Own end-to-end test automation for assigned squads or modules and ensure coverage targets such as 80%+ are met.
- Build and maintain CI/CD test pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions, including execution reporting and flaky-test triage.
- Perform root-cause analysis on defects and platform issues and document known issues clearly for stakeholders.
- Migrate legacy automation suites such as Selenium/Java to modern frameworks such as Playwright/TypeScript.
- Drive Definition of Ready/Done adherence, participate in Three-Amigos sessions, and support sprint planning from a QA lens.
- Mentor SDETs and QA engineers on automation design patterns, page object models, and debugging techniques.
- Contribute to test case design covering positive, negative, edge, and regression scenarios for complex functional areas.
- Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted testing tools and workflows, such as MCP-based validation and Copilot for test generation, to improve efficiency.
What you'll need
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in test automation or SDET roles.
- Strong programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript or Java.
- Deep expertise with Playwright, Selenium/Selenide, or similar automation frameworks.
- Experience with CI/CD tools including Jenkins and GitHub Actions, and version control using Git.
- Solid understanding of API testing using REST, Postman/RestAssured, or similar.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong debugging skills including XPath, DOM inspection, and browser developer tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Nice to have
- Strong test automation skills using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript or Java.
- Experience developing automation frameworks.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing.
- Exposure to AI tools or prompt engineering for test generation.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as k6 and JMeter.
- Jira/Confluence proficiency for test case management and documentation.
