Senior Software Engineer I

Overview

Senior Software Engineer role within the Lasers Business Unit at MKS Instruments, partnering with scientists and engineers to design and develop free-space and fiber-based laser systems.

What you'll do

• Develop Windows-based GUI interfaces for laser systems.
• Perform system testing and debugging and develop test scripts.
• Develop embedded code for laser products based on ARM microcontrollers.
• Support existing products with failure analysis and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with optical engineers, physicists, marketing, and customers to deliver and support laser systems.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of related experience (plus a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent).
• Proficiency in C, C#, Python, and C++.
• Understanding of Windows-based GUI software design and embedded firmware design techniques.
• Familiarity with I/O devices (ADC, DAC) and interfaces (I2C, SPI, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, USB).
• Ability to read electronic schematic diagrams and component datasheets.
• Experience with test equipment including DVM, power supply, and oscilloscopes.
• Use of version control/build tools including Azure DevOps and Git.
