Overview
Contribute to U.S. Bank's technology initiatives and digital transformation journey as a Software Engineer. Perform analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of software experiences while collaborating with teams across the organization.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, test, operate and maintain products.
- Take full stack ownership by consistently writing production-ready and testable code.
- Create optimal designs adhering to architectural best practices, considering scalability, reliability and performance of affected systems and contexts.
- Analyze failures, propose design changes and encourage operational improvements.
- Make sound design and coding decisions with customer experience in the forefront.
- Apply changes from code reviews to meet standards.
- Conduct code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures.
- Ensure all aspects of product development follow compliance and security best practices.
- Maintain a relentless focus on software reliability engineering standards embedded into development standards.
- Embrace emerging technology opportunities and contribute to best practices supporting the bank's technology transformation.
- Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Review tasks critically, ensure they are appropriately prioritized and sized for incremental delivery, and anticipate and communicate blockers and delays before escalation.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Generally a minimum of eight years of experience.
Nice to have
- Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.
- Complete understanding of a feature, the users impacted, the flows impacted and the feature's purpose.
- Thorough understanding of the team's domain, how work in this domain relates to the team's objectives and deliverables, how it contributes to overall business strategy and how technical strategy maps to this.
- Basic understanding of adjacent teams' business domains.
- Ability to collaborate on all aspects of product development.
- Technically proficient and able to define and fulfill solutions requirements for the end user.
- Able to communicate processes and results with all parties involved in the product team, including engineers, product owner, scrum master, third-party vendors and customers.
- Proficient understanding of algorithms, data structures, architectural design patterns and best practices.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
