Senior Software Engineer – Java/Go | Distributed Systems | Microservices | Kafka | Cloud | 8–12 Years

Overview

Hands-on Senior Software Engineer on the Webex Data Analytics Platform team, building high-performance, scalable distributed data systems and data products on the underlying big data platform.

What you'll do

• Build high-performant, highly scalable, complex, and distributed systems end to end.
• Contribute to a future-ready, high-quality, and performant codebase.
• Share technical solutions and product ideas with the broader team through design review, code review, proof-of-concepts, and show-and-tell sessions.
• Participate and contribute ideas to technology, algorithms, and products.
• Work closely with development, testing, and cross-technology teams to design development strategies and plans, then design and write code reflecting product requirements and functionality.

What you'll need

• At least 8-12 years of experience in developing and maintaining enterprise grade applications.
• Strong experience in Java or Go.
• Adept in using AI tools like Copilot, Cursor, Codex, Windsurf etc. in design, development and testing.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and SOA architectures.
• Experience in building large, asynchronous task systems and scalable distributed systems, with a good understanding of microservices architecture and associated principles.

Nice to have

• Experience developing services using frameworks like Spring and Spring Boot.
• Experience with Docker or other configuration management tools.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful web services and responsive web design patterns.
• Expertise in messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with 12-Factor app development methodology and guiding principles.
