Senior Software Engineer, Observability

Overview

Senior Software Engineer, Observability for the Auth0 Platform Observability team, building and operating observability tooling to help engineers monitor and debug the Auth0 Platform.

What you'll do

• Maintain and automate observability tooling across the platform, including metrics, logs, and traces.
• Champion observability best practices and correct anti-patterns in instrumentation.
• Provision, configure, and monitor cloud-native infrastructure and services.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable observability infrastructure using Terraform.
• Troubleshoot performance and operational issues and automate operational tasks.
• Participate in major incident response to diagnose root causes and identify telemetry gaps.
• Drive cross-team initiatives to improve observability standards and instrumentation.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps experience.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Datadog ecosystem expertise (Metrics, Logs, Traces, Error Tracking), including alerting standards, tagging taxonomies, and Terraform-managed configurations.
• Strong coding skills in Node.js or Golang.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel), Vector, or similar instrumentation frameworks.
