Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Trust

Overview

Lead the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of large-scale machine learning systems for Airbnb's Trust organization. This senior individual contributor role remains hands-on, including coding and production ML development.

What you'll do

• Define and execute long-term ML technical vision and strategy for Trust.
• Architect scalable production ML solutions and champion engineering best practices.
• Mentor ML and software engineers on architecture and modeling challenges.
• Drive multi-quarter ML initiatives across multiple teams.
• Build and improve ML models using large-scale structured and unstructured data.
• Develop, productionize, and operate batch and real-time ML models and pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and data science partners on requirements and impact.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of industry experience in applied machine learning.
• 2–3+ years working with LLMs and novel generative AI technologies.
• Proven experience with Agentic AI frameworks, orchestration, architecture, and productionization.
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in computer science, machine learning, or a related field.
• Strong programming and data engineering skills in Scala, Python, Java, C++, or equivalent.
• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Kubernetes, and end-to-end ML infrastructure or model productionization.
• Understanding of ML best practices, algorithms, high-scale software architecture, testing, and A/B testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with the Trust and Risk domain.

Details

• Remote eligible in the United States, with possible occasional office or offsite attendance.
• Annual base pay range: $244,000–$305,000 USD.
