Overview
Develop AI-driven firmware solutions for Infineon PSoC™ MCUs using ModusToolbox™, including AI agent capabilities, tool integrations, connectivity applications (BLE/Wi-Fi/IoT), and automated frameworks to validate AI-generated firmware.
What you'll do
- Develop and enhance AI agent skills for PSoC™ devices using ModusToolbox™, including peripheral and clock configuration, low-power operation, capacitive touch sensing, connectivity features, and driver integration.
- Create AI-driven capabilities for consumer applications, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, audio solutions, touch-based user interfaces, and edge machine learning (ML) implementations.
- Design and implement tool integrations, such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, enabling AI agents to interact with build environments, debug probes, serial communication tools, power analyzers, and test equipment.
- Define acceptance criteria and develop automated on-target validation frameworks to verify functionality, power consumption, memory utilization, and timing performance of AI-generated firmware.
- Support firmware development, migration, and porting activities across Infineon MCU platforms.
- Collaborate closely with the Application Engineering team on real-world customer use cases, using insights and feedback to continuously improve AI agent capabilities, development skills, and validation methodologies.
What you'll need
- 8–12 years of hands-on embedded software development experience, primarily in C, targeting Arm Cortex-M or comparable MCU platforms from any semiconductor vendor, in both bare-metal and RTOS-based environments such as FreeRTOS.
- Proven track record of delivering firmware for at least one battery-operated, connected consumer, or IoT product that has been successfully deployed.
- Strong experience in peripheral bring-up using reference manuals, low-power system design, and implementation of at least one connectivity technology, such as Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, or USB.
- Proficient in hardware-level debugging and system validation using tools such as debuggers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers.
- Hands-on experience with at least one MCU Software Development Kit (SDK), such as ModusToolbox™, along with build environments based on GCC, CMake, or Make.
- Strong programming skills in Python for tooling, scripting, and test automation, with working knowledge of Git-based version control and Continuous Integration (CI) workflows.
- Demonstrated practical experience with Generative AI, evidenced by one or more of: development of a reusable AI-powered engineering capability (such as an agent skill, custom instruction framework, or MCP server) adopted by multiple users; creation and deployment of complex firmware using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor, validated on target hardware; or design and implementation of automated testing frameworks for evaluating and validating AI-generated code.
Nice to have
- Experience with Machine Learning on MCUs, including frameworks such as TensorFlow Lite for Microcontrollers or NPUs like Arm Ethos-U.
- Familiarity with Zephyr RTOS, Matter, and Thread protocols.
- Knowledge of embedded graphics, human-machine interfaces (HMI), or audio processing applications on MCU platforms.
- Experience with simulation and virtualization tools such as Renode or QEMU.
- Exposure to or hands-on development experience with Embedded Rust.
