Overview
Design and build cloud-native and on-premises Go microservices, RESTful APIs, real-time communication layers and frontend components that power SonicWall's Network Security Manager (NSM) within the Unified Management ecosystem, with a security-first engineering approach.
What you'll do
- Define technical strategy and architecture direction
- Mentor and grow senior engineers and drive engineering standards adoption
- Collaborate with AI coding tools: validate, test, debug and refine generated code, and establish coding standards and AI guardrails
- Lead end-to-end system design, from requirements decomposition through deployment topology, data modelling and API contracts
- Collaborate with engineering managers and product leads on roadmap feasibility, effort estimation and technical risk assessment
- Design, develop and maintain high-performance Go-based microservices for NSM's cloud and On-Prem deployments
- Build and evolve RESTful API endpoints serving enterprise customers at scale
- Implement and maintain mTLS certificate-based connection trust for service-to-service and client-to-service communication
- Adopt a secure software development framework and ensure the process addresses OWASP Top 10 risks from design to delivery
- Instrument services with structured logging, distributed tracing and metrics using OpenTelemetry, New Relic and OpenSearch
- Contribute to cloud-native (AWS/Kubernetes) and On-Prem microservice deployments, ensuring feature and security parity
What you'll need
- At least 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 6 years' experience; or equivalent experience
- 8 to 10 years of software development using Golang on Linux or macOS
- Proficient use of AI coding tools, with critical validation to identify and fix security vulnerabilities, logic errors and inefficiencies in AI-generated code
- Iterative collaboration with AI to refine, test and improve code in small, reviewable chunks
- Hands-on knowledge of the OWASP Top 10, threat modelling and secure design code review
- Ability to design distributed systems at scale
- Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS architectures
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture at scale
- Microservices experience including inter-service communication (gRPC/REST) and event-driven patterns
- RESTful API design including versioning, security and OpenAPI specification
- WebSockets for real-time bidirectional communication
- mTLS and certificate trust: mutual TLS configuration, x509 certificate lifecycle, PKI integration and client identity verification
- MongoDB: CRUD, aggregation pipeline, indexing strategies, schema design and query optimization
- OpenTelemetry instrumentation for distributed traces, metrics and logs using the OTel SDK
- New Relic: APM integration, custom dashboards, alert policy configuration and service maps for cloud-native workloads
- OpenSearch: structured log ingestion and familiarity with OpenSearch Dashboards
- AWS: EKS, EC2, S3, IAM, EMR, VPC, Security Groups, KMS and CloudWatch
- Kubernetes: Service Mesh (Istio), CNI, eBPF, Secrets, RBAC, network policies, Pod Security Standards and Helm
- Basic networking security concepts: OSI and TCP/IP models, firewall and traffic control
- Familiarity with firewall policy lifecycle: creation, review, audit and automated compliance checks
- Familiarity with SD-WAN and IPSec/IKEv2/WireGuard VPN topologies
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly
- Self-motivated, well-organized and an effective team player in a globally distributed setup
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Git and code versioning workflows
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools: JIRA and Confluence
