Software Development Engineer II

Overview

Implement and test customer-specific scenarios and use-cases for F5 AI, BIG-IP, NGINX and Distributed Cloud products, with a focus on App Delivery and Security, and create and publish technical content and demos for internal sales and customers.

What you'll do

• Work independently and with senior engineers to understand product requirements, customer-specific scenarios, architecture and new feature designs, incorporating F5 AI products such as AI Guardrails, BIG-IP, NGINX and Distributed Cloud.
• Publish and create technical content and demos for internal teams and customers, highlighting App Delivery and Security alongside traditional app delivery.
• Implement automated tests and infrastructure that provide feature coverage across ADSP categories including AI security, App Delivery and Security.
• Develop automated test systems to replicate real-world scenarios that can be plugged into a continuous integration environment, testing F5 products and solutions.
• Participate actively in the code review process, posting scripts, incorporating feedback and reviewing automation submitted by other team members.
• Analyze and evaluate test results, report and assist in resolution of product issues.
• Proactively and effectively communicate status, plan of action, and resolution of issues.
• Work effectively to deliver on planned and committed schedules.

What you'll need

• Strong programming skills in Python for automation, tooling, validation, and security research.
• Good knowledge of security and networking.
• Knowledge of containerization: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in L2/L3 network protocol testing.
• Strong experience in networking and working knowledge of HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP.
• CI/CD and Agile software development experience.
• Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
• 3+ years of professional experience in the testing and/or development of computer software, preferably in a Linux environment.
• BA/BS degree in a computer or engineering related field, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Good knowledge of any one cloud technology (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Knowledge of OWASP API Security and LLM.
• Experience with GitHub or other source control management tools.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
