Overview
Software Engineer role in Bengaluru building and running production services for Itron Resiliency Solutions, owning features end to end with growing independence and support from senior engineers.
What you'll do
- Own features and services end to end with speed and quality: build, test, release, monitor and fix.
- Start with clearly defined work and grow into breaking down ambiguous problems yourself.
- Write design notes for your features and get them reviewed; contribute to larger designs led by senior engineers.
- Write tests, add observability, and take part in on-call so issues are caught before customers see them.
- Understand who uses what you build, and learn from support issues what to fix next.
- Give and receive thoughtful code reviews, and help onboard engineers who join after you.
What you'll need
- 1–4 years building production software.
- Shipped code that runs in production: features or services you built, released and supported.
- Strong problem solving: can take an unfamiliar, feature-sized problem, reason through it, and land on a simple, correct solution.
- Works independently toward a clear goal: figures out the steps, unblocks yourself, and asks for help at the right moments.
- Hands-on with AWS: you've deployed and debugged services running on it.
- Strong in at least one modern language such as Python, Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Modern service frameworks such as FastAPI, Node.js or equivalents.
- Solid data modeling and query fundamentals: can design a schema, use indexes well, and explain why a query is slow and how you'd fix it.
- Fundamentals: data structures, API design, and the basics of caching and concurrency.
Nice to have
- Impact you can explain: what changed because of something you built, for users, performance or reliability.
- One problem you went deep on: a bug, a performance issue or a design where you dug past the surface to understand why.
- Ownership beyond the ticket: fixed what you shipped when it broke, and improved it after release without being asked.
- Framework mindset: notices repeated code and turns it into something reusable.
- Learning speed: picked up a new domain, codebase or technology quickly and delivered in it.
- Curiosity about the user: asked why a requirement exists, or suggested a simpler way to solve the user's problem.
- Passion evidenced by a side project, a technology you went deep on, or something you built because you wanted to.
- Depth: at least one thing you've built or debugged that you can explain down to the internals and the tradeoffs.
