Overview

eBay is seeking a Backend Software Engineer for the Advertising & Marketing technology organization.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and related technologies.
• Build platform infrastructure with distributed systems, system design, and large-scale databases.
• Research, analyze, design, develop, and test solutions aligned to business and technology strategies.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and team meetings to deliver features.
• Collaborate with senior developers, product owners, and QA engineers to understand requirements.
• Contribute to technical documentation, retrospectives, and process improvements.

What you'll need

• 5+ years after a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Master’s degree.
• Expert-level practical product development experience in Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot, REST services, and web technologies.
• Database-driven application development with Oracle and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase), plus SQL and schema design.
• Experience building a live product scaled to a large number of users.
• Strong computer science foundation in data structures, algorithms, software design, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Git and Maven or Gradle build tools.
