Software Engineer

Overview

Develop high quality C++ software for NCR Atleos self-service banking solutions, working in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do

• Develop high quality software which meets requirements, promotes re-use of software components, and facilitates ease of support.
• Diagnose, isolate, and implement remedies for system failures caused by errors in software code.
• Identify and implement process improvements in Engineering practices.
• Utilize software-based system maintenance and tracking tools.
• Provide input and technical content for technical documentation, user help materials and customer training.
• Conduct unit tests, track problems, and implement changes to ensure adherence to test plan and functional/nonfunctional requirements.
• Analyze, design, and implement software mechanisms to improve code stability, performance, and reusability.
• Participate in and lead code review sessions.
• Create high fidelity estimates of your own work efforts, and assist others in estimating task effort and dependencies.
• Take responsibility for team commitments within the Sprint.
• Lead and advise other Engineering resources as part of project activities.
• Act as a subject matter expert in your chosen field.
• Participate with industry groups, stay current with technology and industry trends, disseminate knowledge to team members, and form best practices.
• Communicate with Solution Management and other internal teams.
• Participate in cross-functional collaboration within the organization.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field.
• A minimum of 3 to 6 years of experience in software design and development.
• A minimum of 3+ years of experience in preferred technology stack: C/C++/C# design/development.
• Practical experience integrating AI/Machine Learning (ML) capabilities into software using APIs or libraries (e.g. LLMs, ML services, or SDKs).
• Object Oriented programming.
• Windows programming.
• Deep understanding of Software Development and Quality Assurance best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Experience operating in an Agile environment, with a deep understanding of agile development principles.
• Familiarity with Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma Lean principles.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Java Spring Boot (will be an added advantage).
• Worked in any Software Development Life Cycle model; desirable to work in an Agile environment.
• Languages preferred but not essential: JavaScript, Java, HTML, CSS, AngularJS, TypeScript, Python.
• Knowledge of software development standards and protocols.
• Knowledge about ATMs (will be an added advantage).
• Experience with tools used in the development environment: Jira, Subversion/GitHub, NUnit.
