Software Engineer, Desktop

Overview

Build and operate reliable, performant cross-platform desktop applications for real-time collaboration and AI-powered features.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain Electron desktop applications.
• Design responsive, scalable real-time collaboration UIs.
• Implement file access, native notifications, auto-updates, and deep linking.
• Integrate chat, agents, and AI assistance through backend APIs.
• Optimize startup time, memory usage, runtime performance, and Electron overhead.
• Manage local state and message history efficiently.
• Maintain real-time updates and stability across macOS and Windows.

What you'll need

• Proven software engineering experience.
• Production experience building Electron applications.
• Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
• Experience with React or similar UI frameworks.
• Understanding of desktop application lifecycles and IPC communication.
• Experience with local storage and WebSockets or other real-time transport.
• Strong debugging and performance profiling skills.
