Software Engineer – Java/Go | Distributed Systems | Microservices | Kafka | Cloud | 4–8 Years

Overview

Develop data products and features for the Webex Data Analytics Platform as a hands-on Software Engineer focused on data engineering, distributed systems, microservices, and enterprise-grade applications.

What you'll do

• Build high-performant, highly scalable, complex, and distributed systems end to end.
• Contribute to a future-ready, high-quality, and performant codebase.
• Share technical solutions and product ideas with the broader team through design review, code review, proof-of-concepts, and show-and-tell sessions.
• Participate and contribute ideas to technology, algorithms, and products.
• Work closely with development, testing, and various cross-technology teams to design development strategies and plans.
• Design and write code reflecting product requirements and functionality.

What you'll need

• At least 4-8 years of experience in developing and maintaining enterprise grade applications.
• Strong experience in Java or GO.
• Be adept in using AI tools like Copilot/Cursor/Codex/Windsurf etc. in design, development, and testing.
• A solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and SOA architectures.
• Experience building large, asynchronous task systems.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems with a good understanding of microservices architecture and associated principles.

Nice to have

• Experience developing services using frameworks like spring and spring boot.
• Experience with Docker/Podman or other container management tools.
• Hands-on experience with RESTful Webservices and Responsive web design patterns.
• Expertise in messaging systems such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with 12-Factor app development methodology and guiding principles.
