Software Engineering Manager - Java, GenAI

Overview

Software Engineering Manager overseeing delivery and team execution for the Servicing Platform, with focus on Java/GenAI-enabled capabilities and engineering leadership.

What you'll do

• Manage, coach, and develop engineering teams including individual contributors and less experienced engineering managers.
• Ensure adherence to Banking Platform Architecture and meet functional, non-functional, security, and regulatory requirements with each release.
• Serve as technical representative for cross-team collaborative efforts and product planning.
• Lead end-to-end engineering delivery, including designing and reviewing Java services and APIs.
• Act as escalation point for delivery issues, architectural trade-offs, and engineering risks; remove blockers.
• Conduct code reviews and guide design and engineering best practices for alignment to technical direction.
• Partner with architects, security teams, and third-party vendors to evaluate and integrate new technologies and services.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent via work/training/military/education).
• 2+ years of leadership experience.
• Hands-on expertise in Java, modern JVM frameworks (Spring/Spring Boot), and enterprise application development.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying AI using LLMs, prompt engineering, embeddings, and orchestration frameworks.
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure build and deployment practices.
• Experience with cloud-ready/cloud-native architectures, application modernization, and migration strategies.
• Experience evaluating and adopting AI-enabled developer productivity tools and AI platforms.
