Specialist Cloud Database Engineer (SQL, DevOps, AWS)

Overview

Specialist Cloud Database Engineer for the Data Engineering and Database Operations team, focused on database DevOps, release engineering, and CI/CD for database changes.

What you'll do

• Review and approve pull requests for database changes to ensure quality, standards, and deployability.
• Package database changes (DDL, stored procedures, functions, and CLR/assembly) into deployable artifacts using DACPAC, SLN, and manifest files.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments using Jenkins and GitHub Actions/Workflows.
• Coordinate database deployments to roll out alongside production application code changes.
• Apply GitOps principles to database change management with branching, PR workflows, and version-controlled schema/code deployments.
• Provide primary database support for lower/lab environments, including replication, high availability, and backup/restore.
• Provision and support AWS RDS for MySQL and Amazon Aurora (MySQL-compatible) database environments.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of professional experience in database engineering or administration with exposure to DevOps/CI-CD practices.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and T-SQL programming.
• Solid understanding of DevOps and GitOps principles for database change management.
• Experience performing code reviews and approving pull requests for database changes.
• Hands-on experience deploying database changes including DDL, stored procedures, and functions.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, specifically Jenkins and GitHub Actions/Workflows.
• Strong experience with SQL Server Replication requirements including Transactional Replication and Merge Replication.
