Sr. Developer - Application Development N 4B

Overview

Develop, maintain, and support critical mainframe applications using COBOL and DB2. The role covers application development, production support, database optimization, and collaboration across technical teams.

What you'll do

• Develop, test, debug, and implement COBOL programs.
• Use JCL for batch processing, scheduling, and utilities.
• Design and maintain DB2 tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
• Optimize SQL queries and troubleshoot database performance.
• Resolve production incidents and implement permanent fixes.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Mentor junior team members and maintain technical documentation.

What you'll need

• Minimum 4 years of mainframe application development and support experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Expert-level COBOL programming proficiency.
• Strong DB2 for z/OS experience, including SQL, DDL, DML, and performance tuning.
• In-depth JCL knowledge.
• Proficiency with TSO/ISPF and mainframe utilities.
• Understanding of mainframe architecture, VSAM, sequential files, and batch processing.

Nice to have

• Experience with CICS.
• Knowledge of MQSeries, IMS, or Assembler.
• Familiarity with CA-7 or OPC/TWS scheduling tools.
• Experience with Endevor, CA-Librarian, or Panvalet.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
