Overview
Staff Engineer – Control Software to provide technical leadership for vacuum and microscope control software for TEM instruments.
What you'll do
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across software development teams and distributed sites.
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain microscope control software and Windows-based components.
- Interface software layers with supplier-provided hardware APIs and implement hardware abstraction layers (HAL).
- Integrate and develop communication/control modules for SCU, PLC, and IO-Link based devices.
- Drive integration across native and managed components, bridging legacy COM/MFC and newer components.
- Establish engineering quality practices using unit, integration, and system-level testing (GTest/GMock).
- Mentor engineers and support Agile Scrum/SAFe planning activities (backlog, sprint/PI planning, reviews, retrospectives).
What you'll need
- 10–15 years of software engineering experience.
- Hands-on expertise in C++, COM, and C#.
- Windows application development experience using MFC and Qt; WPF is good-to-have.
- Experience with unit and component test frameworks such as GTest/GMock.
- Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing engineering direction.
- Ability to mentor teams on architecture, code quality, maintainability, and engineering discipline.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills across global, cross-functional teams.
