Overview
Computational immunologist (single-cell analysis) on the AI Excellence team, applying advanced analytics, machine learning and AI to develop antibody and immunology solutions within the Proteomic Sciences Division.
What you'll do
- Establish methods and solutions to analyse large amounts of single-cell VDJ sequencing data, directed towards the development and evolution of antibodies.
- Design the next generation of computational analysis pipelines for high-throughput processing of single-cell VDJ data, adding other sources of paired or unpaired immunoglobulin data as needed.
- Conduct original research on affinity maturation and antibody developability.
- Help build and provision data infrastructure for antibody development and annotation of VDJ clonotypes, possibly adding sources other than single-cell VDJ sequencing.
- Contribute to annotation of immunoglobulin germline variation on different genomes.
- Advise on recombinant antibody production and immunochemical analysis.
- Partner with Thermo Fisher Scientific scientists and external academic research groups to translate research ideas into working prototypes.
- Lead and contribute to open-source projects, benchmarks and research results used by the broader community.
- Publish and present research at top-tier venues, while deploying computational tools and algorithmic implementations into production systems.
What you'll need
- Advanced Degree (PhD) plus 2 years of experience, or Master's Degree plus 5-8 years of experience, in Computational Immunology or Computational Biology.
- Expertise and proven hands-on work in analysis and processing of single-cell VDJ sequencing data from different technology providers or homebrewed solutions.
- Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL and other coding languages of relevance.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis, experimental design and hypothesis testing.
- Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and version control systems (Git).
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders; comfortable collaborating across research and engineering teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to move quickly from ideas to insights using sound experimental strategies.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities; comfortable in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments with evolving priorities.
- Willingness to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
