Staff Frontend Engineer - Grafana DataViz | US | Remote

Overview

Lead frontend engineering initiatives for Grafana's DataViz squad, building and evolving data visualizations in Grafana. The role focuses on technical leadership, production software quality, and cross-squad collaboration.

What you'll do

• Lead multi-quarter technical initiatives from problem framing through rollout.
• Gather user feedback and measure the impact of shipped work.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and problem solving.
• Participate in on-call and incident response for owned services.
• Support customer escalations and identify areas of user friction.
• Write design proposals, run demos, and represent the team's roadmap.

What you'll need

• Experience leading teams through projects and mentoring engineers.
• Experience operating production software and responding to incidents.
• Ability to communicate clearly in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Experience building complex production software systems.
• Ability to solve complex engineering problems with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with AI technologies and frameworks.
• Experience with TypeScript, React, uPlot, or ECharts.

Nice to have

• Open-source contribution or maintainership experience.
• Interest or experience in observability tools such as Grafana or Prometheus.
• Experience using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or Tempo on-call.
• Experience in a fully remote, globally distributed team.

Details

• Remote role for candidates in the United States and Canada, with EST/CST time zones.
• United States compensation range is $174,986–$209,983 USD yearly.
