Staff Software Engineer (Harrier)

Overview

Staff Software Engineer in Group Security at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Bangalore (Manyata Tech Park), leading the design and delivery of enterprise identity and security platforms used across the bank.

What you'll do

• Lead the design and delivery of complex enterprise solutions across discovery, architecture, development and deployment
• Design innovative engineering solutions to solve challenging business and security problems
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring across engineering teams
• Influence architecture decisions and ensure solutions are secure, scalable and fit for purpose
• Champion DevSecOps practices through automation, testing, observability and operational excellence
• Drive continuous improvement through engineering standards, governance and modern delivery practices
• Engineer cloud-native solutions using AWS, modern software practices and DevSecOps principles
• Support the design and deployment of secure, scalable cloud-based services on AWS

What you'll need

• Extensive experience leading end-to-end enterprise technology solutions across strategy, architecture, delivery and optimisation
• Deep expertise across the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery methodologies
• A strong DevSecOps mindset where security, quality, automation and operational ownership are embedded into engineering practices
• Experience delivering solutions in public cloud environments, particularly AWS
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence technical discussions across engineering and business teams
• Fosters a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and innovation
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology

Nice to have

• Experience in some of the following: front-end technologies including React, Angular and modern JavaScript frameworks
• Experience in some of the following: microservices, event-driven architectures, databases and serverless technologies
• Experience in some of the following: programming languages including Python, Java, JavaScript and TypeScript
• Experience in some of the following: CI/CD and DevSecOps tooling including GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity, Snyk, SonarQube and Octopus
• Experience in some of the following: networking technologies including firewalls, network segmentation, API gateways and Infrastructure as Code
• Experience in some of the following: Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and CloudFormation
• Experience in some of the following: containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience in some of the following: cloud-native platforms and services within AWS
• Exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Large Language Models is highly regarded
