Overview
Staff Software Engineer on the newly formed Developer Experience (DevEx) team, building AI-enabled platform infrastructure, including AI-assisted development tools and coding agent runtimes, to help engineering teams operate at AI speed.
What you'll do
- Build components of the agent orchestration layer and harness that let coding agents operate reliably inside ServiceTitan's systems.
- Build environment tooling covering CDEs, on-demand provisioning, mocking, and data seeding.
- Build CI/CD pipelines including build parallelization, remote caching, test-splitting, and secure, progressive rollout.
- Build the Developer Portal, including Golden Paths, scaffolding, and service/API catalogs.
- Build guardrails and compliance into workflows, including automated linting, security scanning, and policy-as-code.
- Make core architectural decisions and design systems within your area; lead investigations and guide deep-level refactoring.
- Demonstrate knowledge across multiple domains (agent runtimes, build infrastructure, environments) and glue distributed systems together.
- Write code and set the standard others emulate, with full rigor on testing for scale, resiliency, performance, and security.
- Roadmap large tracks of work with reliable estimates and help the team hit its commitments.
- Make technical decisions across a large area of the platform and resolve in-depth needs independently.
- Be the go-to subject-matter expert for at least one major piece of the DevEx platform, such as the agent harness or the CDE provisioning layer.
- Mentor engineers in technical design and architecture; participate in interviewing and hiring recommendations.
- Partner with the Principal Engineer/EM to turn multi-quarter strategy into sequenced, shippable slices of infrastructure.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- Recent (last 6–12 months) hands-on platform or DevX work.
- Direct, hands-on experience with AI/agent tooling beyond process automation or code-review assistance.
- A primary dev environment built around a coding-agent app (e.g., Codex, Claude Code) that you run on both desktop and mobile.
- Agent sessions you keep running continuously rather than one-off.
- Ability to speak in depth about orchestrating more than one agent against real work, not just occasional prompt engineering or drafting specs from a brief.
- Experience shipping CI/CD pipelines, build systems, internal developer portals, or test automation platforms in production, at a scope consistent with large, potentially distributed systems.
- Practical fluency with containerization/orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker) and cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
- Comfort operating independently on a small team, planning around disruptions.
Nice to have
- Some direct exposure to coding-agent-runtime work, even partial.
- Experience where AI-agent adoption was a team or org push you helped drive, with work that is current (roughly the last 3 months).
- Experience with compliance-sensitive workflows, change management systems, or policy engines.
