Overview
Support and manage Indian tax compliance, tax accounting, withholding tax (TDS), reconciliations, audits, assessments, and tax-related reporting while working with Finance, Accounts Payable, Treasury, Statutory Audit, external tax advisors, and business stakeholders.
What you'll do
- Manage end-to-end India withholding tax compliance for domestic and non-resident transactions.
- Review invoices and determine applicable TDS/WHT sections and rates.
- Ensure appropriate TDS is deducted and accounted for at the correct tax point.
- Review non-resident payments and coordinate documentation such as TRC, Form 41, and no-PE declarations.
- Monitor TDS payments, returns, certificates, and Form 26AS reconciliation.
- Review and resolve TDS defaults, short deductions, interest, and demands on the TRACES portal.
- Coordinate with AP, Treasury, and business teams to resolve TDS-related issues.
- Handle lower/nil deduction certificates and monitor their validity.
- Ensure timely payment of TDS liabilities within statutory due dates.
- Support preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance.
- Coordinate with external tax consultants for tax return preparation and filings.
- Maintain tax compliance trackers and ensure statutory deadlines are met.
- Support tax audits and provide information and documentation requested by auditors and tax authorities.
- Reconcile TDS receivable/payable balances with books, Form 26AS, GST records, and other relevant tax reports.
- Investigate differences and coordinate with Finance/AP teams for corrective entries.
- Monitor aged/unreconciled tax balances and drive timely resolution.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for audit and internal control purposes.
- Coordinate with Statutory Audit, Internal Audit, external tax advisors, and tax authorities.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or Taxation.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience in Indian taxation, preferably in a multinational/corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of Indian TDS/WHT and income-tax provisions.
- Experience with tax reconciliations, audits, assessments, and tax compliance.
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and reconciliation techniques.
- Experience with SAP/ERP systems.
- Ability to analyze large volumes of financial and tax data.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice to have
- CA / CMA / ACCA / MBA Finance qualification would be an advantage.
