Technical Data and Integration Architect (Commerical Pharma and AWS) - RDT Pharma Medicines

Overview

Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable AWS data engineering solutions for Roche’s commercial pharma data environment. The role combines hands-on architecture, technical leadership, data governance, and collaboration with global and vendor teams.

What you'll do

• Design and optimize AWS data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Architect data lake, warehouse, and lakehouse solutions.
• Lead and mentor data engineers through planning, reviews, and technical guidance.
• Implement orchestration workflows using Airflow, Step Functions, or similar tools.
• Ensure data quality, security, governance, compliance, reliability, and scalability.
• Own infrastructure as code and partner on CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
• Drive architecture, tooling, platform roadmap, and complex issue resolution.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of data engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical lead or senior role.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS services including S3, Glue, Redshift, EMR, Lambda, Athena, Kinesis, and Lake Formation.
• Strong Python and/or Scala programming skills and advanced SQL.
• Experience operating large-scale batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with Airflow/MWAA, Step Functions, or equivalent orchestration tools.
• Knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, dimensional/lakehouse design, security, IAM, encryption, and compliance.
• Knowledge of commercial pharma data including sales, claims, Voice of Customer, Veeva CRM, and IQVIA.

Nice to have

• AWS certifications in data analytics, solutions architecture, or data engineering.
• Experience with dbt, Kafka/MSK, Snowflake, Databricks, or real-time architectures.
• Experience with data governance and metadata tools such as DataZone, Collibra, or Atlan.
• Prior commercial pharma business domain experience.
