Overview
Lead the People function at a public, remote-first company scaling from roughly 500 to 1000 employees while expanding internationally. Build the systems for engagement, culture, communications, retention, succession and manager development, and run a small HR Operations and strategic HRBP team to deliver them. Reports to the CHRO.
What you'll do
- Design and run an engagement program where leaders own the outcomes, not HR.
- Document and adopt how remote teams work across geographies and time zones.
- Build recognition that reaches people in every geography and time zone.
- Set up a standing employee and leader communications cadence that gives line of sight to the strategy.
- Design onboarding, team rituals and the in-person moments (offsites, team gatherings) a year.
- Build the retention model and succession plan, including identifying at-risk people and building the bench under key roles.
- Rebuild manager development for distributed teams, including internal mobility, cross-functional movement and learning.
- Redefine manager expectations as spans widen and AI reshapes teams.
- Partner with the AI Transformation Leader on how AI changes work design, job architecture and team structure.
- Run and develop a small HR Operations and strategic HRBP team, keeping the operational foundation clean as the company scales internationally.
What you'll need
- Experience operating teams outside the United States, through EOR or owned entities, including managing the reality of employing people in other countries.
- Experience scaling a company through roughly the 500-1000 employee range, with international expansion partway through.
- A builder who builds with people: has written the framework, run the session or built the thing recently, and brought the team along.
- Develops people through work rather than separately from it.
- Uses AI agents in daily work.
- Leads a team while still close enough to the work to judge its quality.
- Cares about making a company a great place to work across distributed geographies, time zones and cultures.
- Comfortable working within a public company, including comp committee timing, disclosure windows and audit season, without having run a proxy.
- Comes from a strong mid-sized technology company rather than a large enterprise, with experience building under scarcity.
- A first-time VP ready to step up, or a second-time VP who wants to build rather than administer.
- A strong communicator who over-communicates by instinct.
