About this course
AWS Certified Developer Associate (DVA-C03) Exam Prep is a guided DVA-C03 exam prep course that teaches the AWS services a developer builds with, through short lessons and practice questions after each one. It opens with a photo-upload app in which an S3 upload triggers a Lambda function that writes a record to DynamoDB, and follows that flow event by event. Later lessons keep returning to small, concrete applications like it, so each service is learned as part of a working system rather than as a list of features.
Who this DVA-C03 course is for
It is for students and freshers preparing for the AWS Certified Developer Associate exam, version DVA-C03, which replaces DVA-C02. You should be able to write code in Python or JavaScript and know basic cloud ideas such as regions, managed services and what a virtual server is. Backend developers moving to serverless work on AWS can use it too, since it centres on Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB and the tools that deploy and monitor them.
If cloud computing is new to you, start with AWS Cloud Fundamentals, which covers IAM, EC2, S3, VPC and core AWS ideas more broadly. For containers, Kubernetes and general DevOps practice beyond AWS, Cloud & DevOps Engineering is a separate course. Abekus is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon Web Services; this course is study material written around the published exam domains.
How the lessons work on Abekus
Each lesson is a short set of reading cards on one idea, with diagrams where a flow of events or requests is easier to see than to read. You can read the cards or listen to the narration. The course explains what each service and setting does and when to choose it, rather than where to click in the AWS console, and it uses Python with boto3 for code only where code makes the point clearer.
A multiple-choice quiz follows every lesson, with an explanation after each answer, and you can ask the AI guide about any card or question that is still unclear. Questions ask you to pick the service, setting, policy or deployment strategy that fits a scenario, or to explain why a function, table or pipeline behaves the way it does. Lessons open in order on a course map and follow the exam's four domains: development with AWS services, security, deployment, and troubleshooting and optimization.
The final topic compares choices that come up across those domains, such as Lambda versus ECS Fargate, SQS versus EventBridge, CloudFormation versus CDK and a presigned URL versus a proxy, then works through complete designs: an order processing workflow, a serverless REST backend, event-driven data sync, a secure AI chatbot backend and CI/CD for a Lambda API.
Guided practice vs video courses for DVA-C03
Udemy and Coursera offer DVA-C03 preparation mostly as recorded video lectures, often many hours long, and Whizlabs is known for full-length practice tests. Video suits learners who want an instructor to walk through each service, and practice tests suit the final weeks before an exam. This course sits in between: it teaches one idea per short lesson and checks it straight away with a quiz, so gaps show up while you are still on a topic rather than on a mock exam weeks later. It works as a main study track, with timed mock exams added nearer your exam date.
Best way to prepare for DVA-C03
Learn services as parts of a flow. An upload lands in S3, an event invokes Lambda, the function writes to DynamoDB, a stream feeds another consumer, and CloudWatch and X-Ray show where something went wrong. Real applications mix services in the same way, so knowing how they connect matters as much as knowing each one alone.
Spend extra time on comparisons, because many decisions come down to picking between two similar options: query versus scan, a global versus a local secondary index, on-demand versus provisioned capacity, SQS versus SNS, canary versus linear versus blue/green, Secrets Manager versus Parameter Store. Practise the reasoning behind each choice, not just the names. Use each lesson's quiz as active recall, answering before you check, and return to the lessons where you got questions wrong. If you have an AWS account, building the photo-upload flow yourself makes the event model concrete. Before you book, read the current exam guide on the AWS Certification website, since exam details can change.
