Accountant - UK Clients - Remote

Overview

Prepare bookkeeping, VAT returns and draft year end accounts for UK small business clients, working in a pod of five led by a UK-based Senior Accounts Manager.

What you'll do

• Keep clients' books up to date in Xero: bank reconciliations, sales and purchase ledgers, and month and year end adjustments.
• Prepare VAT returns under Making Tax Digital for review.
• Prepare draft year end accounts and, as you grow, corporation tax returns.
• Check your own work before sending it for review, and act on corrections.
• Chase clients early for missing records, and tell your Senior Accountant in good time when a deadline is at risk.
• Keep client records and workflow data accurate.
• Use the AI tools we are building into our products and workflow.

What you'll need

• A degree in commerce, accounting or finance (for example B.Com or BS Accountancy).
• At least 2 years in accounting, including at least 1 on UK clients: bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and VAT returns.
• Confident with Xero, QuickBooks or a similar cloud accounting package.
• Written English good enough to email UK clients directly.
• Based in India or the Philippines, with the right to work there.
• Able to work a shift that overlaps UK business hours.

Nice to have

• Has prepared draft UK year end accounts or CT600s.

• Remote role serving UK small business clients.
• Works in a pod of five; around 300 UK clients from January, growing to around 500 through 2027.
