Advanced Bioinformatics Engineer

Overview

Velsera is seeking an Advanced Bioinformatics Engineer to independently lead complex bioinformatics projects, interact with clients, and design and maintain clinical NGS analysis pipelines.

What you'll do

• Independently work on complex projects without supervision from senior team members.
• Communicate shifting client deadlines, out-of-scope requests (outside the SOW), or other potential risks.
• Meet clients in open discussions on topics, and discuss alternative solutions and approaches.
• Lead smaller project teams toward meeting project deliverables to high quality standards, with occasional assistance from senior team members.
• Provide estimates for the entire project and project team members, with occasional assistance from senior team members; estimates require sign-off by a more senior team member.
• Write client-facing documentation independently; client-facing documentation requires sign-off by a more senior team member.
• Perform the role of responsible Bioinformatician for projects in different Bioinformatics areas when required.
• Present projects and results (internal or customer) at conferences, or assist in workshop implementation.
• Design, develop and maintain various Bioinformatics analysis pipelines and solutions for analysing and managing clinical NGS data.

What you'll need

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong platform knowledge: tool wrapping, pipeline assembling, optimizations.
• Strong understanding of several Bioinformatics areas in which you can contribute in open discussions with clients.
• Good programming skills: Python/R and shell scripting.
• BSc / MSc in Bioinformatics, or in other relevant field (Engineering, Computer science, Molecular biology, Pharmacy, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.) with minimum 3 years of relevant experience (BSc) or 2 years of relevant industry experience (MSc).
