Overview
Serve as an Advisor / Sr Advisor – Synthetic Molecule Process Engineer within Lilly's Synthetic Molecule Design and Development team. Provide technical oversight for process development activities at a strategic Indian contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) and help deliver technical solutions for synthetic molecule development.
What you'll do
- Provide technical oversight of key process development activities performed at a strategic Indian CDMO.
- Act as the technical bridge between Lilly scientists and the CDMO.
- Review and influence CDMO strategies, ensure alignment with Lilly requirements, escalate risks, and develop mitigation plans.
- Demonstrate learning agility across small molecules, peptides, and oligonucleotides.
- Apply engineering fundamentals to design and optimize drug substance chemical processes for Lilly's synthetic molecule organization.
- Understand the scientific principles required for manufacturing raw materials, intermediates, and drug substances, including the interaction of chemistry and equipment.
- Use knowledge of chemical reaction kinetics, heat and mass transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and process modelling to develop robust processes capable of error-free scale-up and reliable supply of early- and late-phase clinical trial materials.
- Learn and apply synthetic process design unit operations, including crystallization, filtration, isolation, drying, batch and continuous chemistry, milling, solids transfer, and liquid handling equipment.
- Apply unit-operation knowledge to assemble complete synthetic processes for manufacturing drug candidates.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to development challenges.
- Monitor emerging trends in process engineering and maintain familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Deploy digital tools to enable advanced modelling and seamless digital technology transfer.
- Work at the interface between disciplines and move between scientific challenges while navigating ambiguity.
- Document all work in an appropriate manner.
- Coach and mentor peers and other scientists.
- Work as a team and take responsibility with accountability.
- Promote a team culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, safety, and compliance.
What you'll need
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience.
