Overview

Join Lilly’s multidisciplinary team as an Advisor / Sr Advisor – Synthetic Molecule Analytical Chemistry, providing technical oversight of process development activities at a strategic Indian contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO). Act as the technical bridge between Lilly scientists and the CDMO to advance analytical solutions and characterize materials and processes supporting the quality, safety, and efficacy of Lilly medicines.

What you'll do

  • Demonstrate learning agility across small molecules, peptides, and oligonucleotides.
  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of product control strategies for synthetic / small molecule programs.
  • Develop analytical methods, justify specifications, design stability studies, establish starting material rationales for synthetic processes, identify impurities, and test drug product performance characteristics such as dissolution/disintegration.
  • Provide technical guidance for analytical activities carried out within the CDMO network.
  • Ensure methods are technically sound, well developed, and fit for purposes.
  • Collaborate with process development chemistry and engineering colleagues and manufacturing engineers to translate processes from the bench to pilot plant scale.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to development challenges.
  • Monitor emerging trends in analytical chemistry and maintain familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Deploy digital tools to enable seamless digital technology transfer.
  • Work with diverse groups across the value chain and in multiple locations.
  • Navigate ambiguity and move between scientific challenges at the interface between disciplines.
  • Document all work in an appropriate manner.
  • Coach and mentor peers and other scientists.
  • Work as a team and take responsibility with accountability.
  • Promote a team culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, safety, and compliance.

What you'll need

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience across multiple analytical techniques, such as HPLC, mass spectrometry, and NMR.
  • Ability to develop analytical methods, justify specifications, design stability studies, establish starting material rationales for synthetic processes, identify impurities, and test drug product performance characteristics such as dissolution/disintegration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration.
  • Self-initiative and appropriate risk-taking.
  • Ability to learn and apply technical knowledge to meet changing project needs.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple activities and handle ambiguity.

  • Location: Hyderabad.
  • Work hours flexibility is required to accommodate collaboration across multiple time zones.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals, allergens, and loud noises.
  • Travel up to 20%, mainly domestic and occasionally international.
