Packaging Engineer II

Overview

Design and validate reusable and single-use packaging solutions for medical devices, working with cross-functional teams and suppliers to meet usability, quality, regulatory, and GMP requirements.

What you'll do

• Develop and redesign primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging layers.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Product Development, Quality, Regulatory, and suppliers.
• Design, verify, and validate reusable and single-use packaging solutions.
• Execute distribution simulation testing and packaging fit checks.
• Develop test protocols, prepare reports, and assess sterilant penetration.
• Lead packaging projects, technical reviews, and operational reviews against milestones.
• Execute cost-saving projects involving packaging design, materials, and manufacturing methods.

What you'll need

• 4–8 years of relevant experience designing and developing reusable packaging.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience managing at least two packaging projects from concept through validation and implementation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Project or an equivalent project management tool.
• Experience with Minitab regression analysis, two-sample t-tests, and equivalence testing.
• Working knowledge of ASTM standards aligned with ISO 11607-1 and ISO 11607-2.
• Experience with Agile PLM, CREO or SOLIDWORKS, sterile reusable packaging, and relevant regulatory requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with labeling requirements under ISO 15223.
• Familiarity with SAP procurement, costing, and material management workflows.
• Familiarity with e-IFU processes and electronic labeling expectations.
