Agentic AI, Principal Machine Learning Engineer

Overview

Principal Machine Learning Engineer on Zillow’s Agentic AI team, building large-scale agentic multimodal AI experiences for customers.

What you'll do

• Develop large-scale, fault-tolerant multimodal agentic experiences for millions of customers.
• Design and build multiple agent interaction modes, including Voice AI and Deep Research.
• Create evaluation frameworks, tracing systems, and safety guardrails for trustworthy AI agents.
• Convert emerging agentic paradigms into product innovation.
• Lead complex, multi-team initiatives between applied research and scalable engineering.
• Distill research findings and AI system architectures into insights for executives and cross-functional teams.

What you'll need

• Master’s degree or above (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• 5+ years experience deploying large-scale ML models.
• Most recent 2–3 years building agent-based systems or multi-agent collaboration.
• Experience developing dialogue systems for long conversations and context-aware tool selection.
• Experience building AI services handling hundreds of millions of daily interactions with high availability and low latency.
• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks including LangGraph, Agents SDK, AutoGen.
