AI Platform Engineer

Overview

AI Platform Engineer responsible for building shared platform primitives that help multiple product teams develop faster, especially for agent development in an AI layer.

What you'll do

• Design and build an agent development SDK for common patterns like tool registration and context management.
• Create a Python-to-JVM language bridge with type safety, error propagation, and observability.
• Develop developer tooling such as local dev environments, debugging tools, test harnesses, and CI integration.
• Define and maintain API contracts between the AI layer and the Starburst platform.
• Build shared infrastructure including a model gateway, observability pipeline, and experiment framework.
• Own platform health across performance, reliability, and developer ergonomics.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years building platform, infrastructure, or developer tooling.
• Proficiency in Python and JVM languages (Java or Kotlin).
• Experience designing APIs and SDKs used by other engineering teams.
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals including RPC, serialization, error handling, and observability.
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
