Platform Engineer II in the Event Stream squad, engineering, operating and continuously improving LS&Co.'s enterprise messaging and event-streaming platforms (IBM MQ and Apache Kafka) that support enterprise APIs and the event-driven agentic runtime built on Temporal.
What you'll do
- Engineer, operate, and continuously improve highly available IBM MQ and Confluent Kafka platform services across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Build secure, scalable, reusable, and increasingly self-service platform capabilities that reduce the need for one-off integration development.
- Support the complete platform lifecycle, including deployment, upgrades, monitoring, incident response, problem management, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
- Partner with teams working on the Temporal-based agentic runtime, enterprise APIs, MuleSoft services, and domain applications to enable reliable event-driven integration.
- Define reusable patterns for messaging, event streaming, connectors, schemas, routing, retries, idempotency, dead-letter handling, and recovery.
- Apply Domain-Driven Design principles, including bounded contexts, domain events, and explicit integration contracts, to platform and solution designs.
- Develop platform automation, observability, alerting, operational tooling, and technical documentation.
- Facilitate platform onboarding through standards, documentation, consultation, and troubleshooting.
- Lead root-cause analysis and improvements to platform reliability, security, performance, scalability, and developer experience.
- Take ownership of assigned platform capabilities while collaborating closely with architects, engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
